445th Airlift Wing wins McNeil Award

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The 445th Airlift Wing Human Resources Development Council won the Maj. Gen. Joseph A. McNeil Award for HRDC Leadership Excellence. The announcement was made Oct. 27 during the HRDC conference held Oct. 25-27 in Atlanta, Ga.

The HRDC conference is hosted by the Command HRDC and is used to make recommendations to the Chief of Air Force Reserve on all matters pertaining to human resources within the Command.

Reservists from the wing attending the conference brought a display that highlighted the accomplishments and outreach programs. Some of the wing's accomplishments during the October 2008 to September 2010 award period include supporting an annual picnic with the residents staying at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dayton; participating in Toys for Tots; volunteering at the Dayton Airshow; participating in local military appreciation day events; sponsoring annual Employer Appreciation Day for the employers of the wing's reservists; and hosting various C-5 Galaxy tours for various groups, including local civic leaders, Scouts, ROTC, JROTC, and Air Force Academy cadets.

The wing HRDC meets each month and focuses on four important aspects of human resources development; recruiting, retention, mentoring and outreach. The council concentrates on problems and areas that need attention in the wing and then works to solve those problems.

"I'm very proud of the men and women of our wing. This is such an accomplishment to walk away with this award. The 445th consistently promotes diversity, harmony, and growth of all its Airmen. Our Human Resources Development Council spearheads this effort and successfully enables our people to meet their personal and professional goals while meeting the call of the nation," said Col. Stephen Goeman, 445th Airlift Wing commander.
