MARCH AIR RESERVE BASE, Calif. — To the Airmen of Fourth Air Force,
First and foremost, Happy New Year and welcome back from what I hope was a very restful and enjoyable holiday season. I know many of you had the opportunity to spend time with family and friends while taking some well-deserved time off.
After a tremendously challenging year, taking time to relax, refresh and recharge our batteries is important and allows us to return and ready to take on the challenges 2020 has in store.
For our Airmen who spent the holiday season away from family and friends, due to deployment or remote assignment, I thank you for the sacrifices you continue to make in service to our nation. I am tremendously grateful for what you do every day.
We have already faced a few challenges in this relatively New Year, yet many more will no doubt present themselves. I also know each one of you will conquer these challenges by working together. Our mission success is a critical component of Air Force Reserve Command, and it will not be achieved by the few; it will take every member of 4th Air Force to lead and support each other to ensure we accomplish our mission – to provide combat-ready strategic mobility forces.
I ask every member of Fourth Air Force to develop and promote “can-do” attitudes to fulfill your daily mission requirements.
Also, don’t forget to reflect on our Air Force Reserve Command priorities:
· Prioritize strategic depth and accelerate readiness
· Develop resilient leaders
· Reform the organization
Accomplishing these priorities requires confident leadership at all levels. Most importantly, it requires leaders to connect with their Airmen. As leaders, we need to help build a strong community and ensure members know they are most important part the Air Force mission.
Additionally, remember to take care of the families of deployed Airmen. At any given time, we have members deployed around the globe. These Airmen need to know their families are being cared for in their absence. I also charge every Airmen to take ownership and be accountable. Always do your job to the best of your ability, search for ways to improve areas under your control and remain open to discussing any positive or negative feedback.
Never forget, Fourth Air Force is part of the world’s greatest Air Force. We must ensure we continue to build upon our heritage of greatness. We must promote an environment where innovation is encouraged so that we maintain our air and space superior. I’m excited about what the future holds in the coming year and look forward to the many mission success stories that are on the horizon. With the dedication, professionalism, and spirit that exist within the entire Fourth Air Force family, I know 2020 will not only be a banner year, but a decade where Airmen’s innovation, persistence and strength will continue to ensure our Air Force remains the greatest in the world.
In 2020, let’s continue show the world why Fourth Air Force is the premier strategic mobility total force partner, and we are Ready, Resilient and Lethal.
