In an Assumption of Command ceremony held here Dec. 4, 2022, Col. Brande Newsome took command of the 914th Aeromedical Staging Squadron.

No stranger to Niagara and the 914th Air Refueling Wing, Newsome got her start in the Air Force Reserve as a Senior Airman, Mental Health Technician, with the 914 ASTS in 1996 when she transitioned from the Army Reserve where she served as a Combat Medic.  She also served as the full-time civilian Sexual Assault Response Coordinator for the 914th from 2009 to 2012, before transitioning to Dobbins Air Reserve Base to serve as their installation SARC.

Col. Newsome returns to Niagara from HQ Air Force Reserve Affairs Medical Directorate at the Pentagon, where she provided oversight to command-wide medical guidance and policy.
